“When my son was approximately 16 years old, I was in a very uncomfortable position because I was unsure whether the advice being given to me by local orthodontists and oral surgeons was altogether appropriate given my son’s health circumstances.
I asked a lot of questions and such requests were met with a lot of what people in the south call, “hums and haws.” There was very little comfort factor.
So, I called our family friend in Atlanta, Dr. Arthur Silver, and asked for his advice.
He asked for my son’s X-rays, and after examining them, my overview, and my son’s history, Dr. Silver advised me that, contrary to the ardent and consistent advice that I had received from every local dental professional, my son did not need surgery or braces from a purely medical or functional perspective (while aesthetics would be a more subjective determination), that the impeded adult tooth would very likely resolve on its own without intervention, that no teeth needed to be extracted and that the lower child teeth could remain viable for an undetermined period of time.
This was such a relief to me. I followed his advice.
Within a year, the child tooth that had been impeding the upper adult tooth fell out naturally, and the adult tooth came into place in a perfectly healthy and natural way. Approximately 3 years later, the lower child teeth are still in place and viable as are the upper adult teeth. The local professionals were not only incorrect but had advised me to endure much hassle, expense, and unnecessary pain and risk that might have complicated things and possibly even negatively affected my son’s appearance.
Dr. Silver saved us from much unnecessary risk, expense, hassle, and potential complications. To say that I most highly recommend Dr. Silver would be a vast understatement.” Lee S.
