We had so many deserving scholarship applicants this year, that we could not decide on just one winner. Silver Smiles is proud to announce that we awarded 2 great students with $1,000 educational scholarships. Congratulations to Hunter Emmons and Justin Cucchi. This Fall, Hunter is cheering on the UGA Bulldogs in Athens and Justin is in Pennsylvania attending Villanova University. We are so proud of these young men and know that their futures are bright. Congratulations again to both of these young men, who are not only exceptional students, but fantastic orthodontic patients as well!

Oral B 5000 – Get Yours Today for $82
As part of our effort to help patients achieve excellent oral hygiene, we have partnered with Oral B to offer our patients the Oral B 5000 at a discounted rate. This power toothbrush includes a specialized orthodontic brush head, as well as a brush for brushing between the teeth. The bundle package also includes toothpaste, fluoride rinse, and super floss. We take oral hygiene seriously and want all of our patients to as well. Leaving plaque on teeth can cause decalcification around the bracket leading to permanent, chalky, white marks on the teeth. Our patients’ oral health is that important to us, so we are offering this power brush at a cost of $82.00! As an added bonus, many times there is a rebate on this brush system, which allows our patients to own this brush for LESS than our cost. If you are interested in purchasing this power brush system, please see one of our staff members.
Preventing the Flu: Good Health Habits Can Help Stop Germs
The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year, but good health habits like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu. There also are flu antiviral drugs that can be used to treat and prevent flu.
1. Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too. 2. Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent spreading your illness to others. 3. Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. 4. Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub. 5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth. 6. Practice other good health habits.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
